Building, Building Everywhere!

One thing with AVON is that you always have to keep building. You have to keep adding new customers and if you are in leadership, keep adding new recruits. It is not a business where you can sit back, relax and coast along. It is an EASY business because of all the opportunities that AVON provides, but you have to put forth the effort. Just like any business venture, you have to want to succeed. And...totally not UNexpected.....there will be good times and not-so-good times!

Take the fact that this year I finally made Unit Leader. Well, since I didn't have enough representatives under me who were actually producing good sales and maintaining their accounts, I lost my Unit Leader status. Plus, it didn't help that my sales were not where they needed to be either. What did I learn? There are certain requirements that you must maintain both as a unit and yourself. I need to map it all out and write it down so I can achieve over those requirements and push myself for more. However, the unit requirements are a little tricky. You cannot force anyone to do anything that they do not really want to do. If they want to succeed with AVON, you can encourage and suggest, but you cannot hold their hands. Any direct marketing information I've read has pointed out that this is a problem that all network marketing companies struggle with: How to recruit people who follow through, set goals and achieve and how to retain those people in your unit. One statistic says that for every ten you recruit, 9 will eventually fall off, leaving you with one good recruit. AVON requires that you have five members in your downline, but in reality to succeed as a unit, you will need a lot more than that because not all of them are going to do as well as some. You could luck out and have five great producers who are so excited and stick with it. But that would be really UNexpected! LOL!

This time, as I start rebuilding, I won't hold their hands so much. It takes way too much time and really, all the training is available to them through AVON. I will answer questions and lead them in the right direction, but if they want success then they are going to have to work for it. I can't build their businesses for them.

I believe that I spent so much time on my new downline, that my own sale s started to suffer because of it as I wasn't working on adding new customers as much. This lead to my not maintaining my sales level and since my downline wasn't maintaining theirs either no matter how hard I tried to encourage, train, meet with them etc. the acheivement of Unit Leader was shortlived.

The last few campaigns, I've focused on adding more customers and I've picked up a few.
Customer goal......I want to get to 100 active customers this year.

Another goal......I need to do this real soon.....I need to put together a business budget and map out what I actually need to earn. Both for personal use and money that I can put back into the business. I plan to take this to the next level. Reaching more people via mailing brochures and advertising the AVON opporunity. I can't do that until I can figure out how much money I will need to earn.

Freelance writing is also still in the early building stages as well. I took the beauty courses online, but I've not had time to write any articles yet. My current freelance news writing gig seems to be taking some time for my schedule to be adjusted. I can't let it go, though, because it is pretty much guaranteed money earned. I'll keep plugging away at it. Speaking of which, I just checked and I've received my topics for the day...albeit a little late. Gotta run and get that done to make deadline! I really would like to get them done first thing in the a.m. but it all depends on when I receive them. It's been so erratic that it makes it difficult because in the afternoon I have things that need to get done for my AVON business as well. I'll have to work that out...

Until later!
